A NEW PURPOSE for the old summer cottage • Lene and Jan, a creative couple from the town of Høng in Denmark, have used their passion for recycling and their sense of community to add new life to an old summer cottage in their idyllic garden. The summer cottage, which was on the verge of being demolished, was carefully dismantled, transported and rebuilt on their plot of land. Based on a careful sense of detail and a deep-felt respect for the history of the materials, the couple added "new" old windows, built a kitchen and turned the house into what is now known as "Forsamlingshuset" – the village hall – and this name just oozes of community and get-togethers.
NEWLY BUILT out of recycling materials • Tine Gertsen isn’t only our talented magazine photographer with a good sense of detail, she’s also a passionate antiques dealer who loves French treasures. Tine and her husband, Tommy, who’s a carpenter, have a shared passion for rebuilding and preserving. A few years ago, they made a dream come true when they bought a charming, old villa which didn’t only become their home but also the center of Tine’s business.
