      Lee blends modern Native American culture with romantic suspense in this satisfying story about the Nakos family. Dakota can't believe she is in charge of running the family-owned casino after her father's murder. Her mother is the new owner, and because she is not Native American, the Casino Association has doubts about her ability to work with employees and effectively manage a casino that funds so many community programs. Dakota is wary when her first love, Shane, now a U.S. marshal, decides to take a leave and investigate her father's death and ongoing threats to the Nakos family. Dakota and Shane cannot deny their attraction and soon resume their sizzling relationship, even while they struggle with questions about their future. Although it would be nice to read about modern Native Americans without a casino setting, the money and proprietary issues dramatized here add a realistic crime element.
