Gr 2-4-Full of gag-inducing information ("Baby koalas eat their mothers' soupy poop.") as well as fascinating facts ("A lightning strike can actually knock a person's shoes and socks off!"), these themed assemblages of science facts and sports records or trivia are bound to be popular choices for students. The format is user-friendly, with entries presented in easily digestible short paragraphs on busy, brightly colored backgrounds alongside photos that are in many cases at least as icky as the accompanying facts. Readers whose appetites are only whetted will find tempting leads at the end to more extensive gatherings of similar material in print and online.
